While this is the first album I released, this is actually my second album. I was waiting for mixes from my friend's home studio of album number one when I started to get antsy and also curious to mess with my 4 track in my parents' basement. I'd recorded plenty of practice jams and crappy demos but never looked at it as an avenue to make an album until Midwest American Nightlife.

Each song was written the night it was recorded, and never more than one song recorded in a night. Subsequently, each song - at least at the time of writing this in January 2019 - has never been performed again. It's a nocturnal record and the original cd-r release liners bore the instructions "listen after dark with headphones" which I still recommend.

The result is a capture of 11 different moods on 11 different nights in early 2002. I'm still happy with it to this day. The songs heavily reflect in mellow tones about very loud, rowdy, drink and drug addled debauchery of youth & the DIY punk scene I was in at the time.
